Our big girl!

About three hours ago Ainsley was eating goldfish and standing next to the couch. She had a goldfish in her mouth and a goldfish in each hand and I was sitting about a foot away from her. She wanted to get to me and realized her hands were full and didn't want to bend down to crawl (like she usually does) so she took a step! Then she took another half of a step as she fell on me :) It was so stinking cute! David and I agreed that it would probably be a little while before she did it again, but it was just so exciting that she did it!

Then - about an hour ago - she stood up in the middle of the room like she likes to do now. (She has been standing up in the middle of the room without any help and laughing since Monday). So, she was standing in the middle of the room and I was a few feet from her and she took 3 steps and fell into my arms!!!! It was so cute - I kept telling her how proud I was and she kept looking up at me and smiling and then hugging me.

Adorable.

Again, it will probably be a little while before she walks all the time, but it was so exciting that she wanted to actually do it!!!

tuba man

I found out today that the tuba man died. He didn't just die - he was killed. A bunch of teenagers beat him up a week and a half ago and he died from the injuries he sustained.

I can't tell you how sad this make me.

Things like this should NEVER happen :( WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!?!?!?!

Seattle sports has taken a seriouly bad turn this year - and this is the cherry on top we did not need. We can eventually get another basketball team - but we will never have another tuba man....

speeches

I often enjoy the concession speech more than the acceptance speech.

McCain gave his while we were driving home to put Ainsley to bed. We stayed in the car and listened to the end of it before we took her inside.

David thought he sounded very presidential.
He gave a wonderful speech.
John McCain makes me proud to be an american :)

Now I am listening to Obama give his acceptance speech. It is also good. He said something that I loved about not being from blue state or red state but the United States of America.

thank you notes oh thank you notes

Ainsley's big 1st birthday party was 3 weeks ago and I am half way through her thank you notes :) This may be the fastest I have EVER gotten to a stack of thank you notes. It is actually more fun writing them on her behalf - as if she was the one writing them :)

The reason I had to take a break is my thumb (and hand but mostly thumb) is KILLING me!!!! It makes me realize that I never really write anymore. I type. It makes me wonder if kids really learn how to write anymore ;) Look at our parents generation's penmanship - and our generation's penmanship. They had MUCH nicer handwriting.

Wish me luck finding all the addresses! I would be golden if I could email the letters ;)

cat name help please

Okay - it is time to name the cats who frequent my backyard. I just asked Jenny if I had a DLH orange on my list and realized he needs a name. DLH grey walked through about 10 minutes ago too.

Please submit names in the comment section of this posting :)
Please specify if the names are for a previously mentioned cat or just a general name that can be assigned to any cat.

Thanks!

plan ruined....

Auntie Jenny and Aaron were over last night playing until really late. We were trying to keep the kids up to trick them into the time change that happened this morning. Aaron started looking in the empty bins in our new IKEA shelf - and I thought it would be fun to help the kids into the bins and take a picture ;)

It was kinda hard to get them both in at the same time!
Ainsley ended up getting back in (I helped her) and she finally looked up so I could get a good shot of her :)

Unfortunately Ainsley was awake at the normal time (if the clocks hadn't changed). So the torture was for nothing and I had to wake up early yet again! Oh well, maybe it will catch up with her a little every day???? We shall see.....

Halloween

Halloween was a total success - my monkey was a monkey - David's Mario costume came together - and I found a wig with red hair!

The really cute thing about Halloween is that is was Ainsley's very first holiday after she was born. So she has officially had her first 2nd holiday :)

We went to Grami Ali's office and waited for the twins to come so we could see how cute they were....

Everyone looked adorable :) It was fun even though Ainsley is still too little to trick-or-treat. Next year will be even better!!!!
