It's bad enough for an adult to try and figure out what size they are, but trying to figure it out for a baby is ridiculous! First of all every brand has their own sizing chart that goes by age, weight, and length (I don't think you can really call it height until they can stand). So, I then get roped into always buying the brands I know and being a brand snob. I actually tried branching out recently and getting a different brand of pjs. I got the size Ainsley should fit into according to her weight and they were WAY too snug. So, I took them back and got the next size up and they were still choking the life out of her! Ainsley is not a chubby baby - if anything she grows out of the length of clothes well before the weight. Since the sizes all have such a large range they barely fit in them properly for longer than a couple of weeks if you're lucky. They are either way too big when you first switch to the bigger size or way too small when you are ready to move up again.
The other REALLY irritating thing is when you find something you like and they go and ruin it! Carters has these 2 packs of pants that match the same colors as their onesies. So, they are interchangeable and make it nice for some variety. So, in the last several sizes I have purchased a pack of pink (1 light and 1 dark) and a pack of purple (also 1 light and 1 dark). They are perfect. They fit well, they match everything, they are cute....
So, I went to stock up on 12 month clothes before Ainsley needed to make the move into the new size and they went and RUINED the pants. They now have a double layer of ruffles on the butt!!!! They are so disgustingly hideous that I don't even know what to do with myself. Are people really going to dress their kids in these pants? The babies will be humiliated :(
So, now I don't know what to do - if I had known they were going to get rid of them I would have already bought them in EVERY size. I'm not kidding!
I tried to find a picture to post but they only show the pants from the front online. Interesting. So, in the end I bought the "boy" pants which are plain with no ruffles. But obviously I couldn't get the pink and purple ones that I like. The pack I got had a brown pair and a blue pair. I think you will see her around town in the brown pants most days.
We switched to the 12 month size today. She is wearing the brown pants :)
Here we go!

Buying baby clothes sucks in general, even though they're super cute. It's just lame to have to spend money on stuff that will be tossed aside in six months or less!
